One jewelry owner says putting your personal identification on your things could help recover stolen items faster.
“It’s always good to have your stuff laser engraved,” says David Putnam owner of Alamo City Gold and Silver.
Putnam believes one of his clients was a victim of Julian Puente.

“We can do laser engraving on the inside of rings, on the back of watches, on the back of pendants. We can get very microscopic when you make a police report. Obviously, you’re going to have a serial number that’s recorded and that helps recover your merchandise,” says Putnam.
He adds one in five of his clients laser engrave their expensive jewelry. He says a minor expense that’s worth the peace of mind getting stolen jewelry recovered.
“You’ve got a serial number that corresponds to you anywhere down the line, it gets sold to a dealer or something that can get recovered,” says Putnam.
